Pingable – Checks if a specified host is reachable
Written in 2008 for the Windows versions of the time. Check that the tool or steps still suit your environment before using them.
Pingable by Shaun Vermaak is my implementation of IFPING. It's a Windows based commandline utility that checks if a specified host is reachable and then returns the ERRORLEVEL value back to the CMD

HOSTNAMEORIPADDRESS | Host to ping. |
TIMEOUT | Time to wait for each reply, in milliseconds. |
PASSCOUNT | Number of successful replies needed, from 1 to 10. Lower values become 1 and higher values become 10. |
It sends up to 10 pings and prints a dash for each one that fails. As soon as PASSCOUNT replies have come back it prints Passed... and exits with code 0. If that never happens it prints Failed... and exits with code 1. The included Example.bat shows how to branch on ERRORLEVEL.
Note: wrong parameters, or any error raised while pinging, print the usage line instead of Failed.... The exit code is still 1.
